When are all the politicians going to tire of being argumentative?
Well, this wouldn’t have been happening in Israel if not for years of interference by first the Clinton Administration, then the Obama Administration. Together, they caused the collapse of Israel’s Labor Party and the splintering into numerous political parties that resulted from it.
Israel’s political system is based on European systems, where you only vote directly for the local Knesset Member (MK). Netanyahu gets elected in his home district, but there is no national vote for him like we have here for President. He leads his party and they got the most votes in the election.
Israeli politics was relatively stable for decades, even had coalitions between Right and Left from time to time to prevent exactly what happened with this election. But, our Democrats interfering and the fallout from the Oslo Accords turned everything upside down.
The one piece of good news, is that the newer politicians are ‘old school’ Israeli patriots. There will be no more appeasement of terrorists groups or half measures. If Hamas or Hezbollah start barraging Israel with rockets again, they’ll probably be wiped out for good.
